The #1 Thing I Wished I Did Before Getting Married + My First Invisalign Aligners by East Gate Orthodontics

This post is sponsored by East Gate Orthodontics // All opinions are mine.

Hey Always Creating Blog Good Vibes Tribe!

Today’s post is a little personal and I have been a bit skeptical about sharing here on the blog. FYI, this will be one of several posts in a series of posts that I will share in conjunction with YouTube videos to share my personal experience and journey with Dr. Omar of East Gate Orthodontics.

Two years ago, when I got engaged if you’d asked me what the one thing was I wanted to do before walking down the aisle, I probably would have told you that I wanted to fix my smile more than anything before walking down that aisle. Yes, that’s right, my smile is something that I have also felt less confident about and I don’t share it with any one.

Spoiler alert! I’m getting Invisalign service from East Gate Orthodontics in exchange for my personal, honest opinion. I will take you along with me on this journey for the next year as I work with Dr. Omar to fix my smile.  Trust me, I will be 100% honest and I don’t plan on holding back at all! I’m even wearing them as you read this! And I will be documenting my experience here on the blog, Instagram, and YouTube!

First time with my aligners in!

I don’t remember when it started for me, but I would probably say in the last five years I have grown more self-conscious of my smile. I don’t know why and how I started to be more aware of my smile because it was never that way when I was younger. I never got to fix my smile before my wedding day, no big deal, it didn’t bother me; as a matter of fact, my smile was THE last thing I thought about on my wedding day!

As life would have it, back in January I was contacted by Dr. Omar via Instagram and she’d sent me a DM saying she was a local orthodontist and that she was interested in working with me. My initial reaction was what, how… why did she want to work with me never even thinking about my “smile”. I’ll be honest: I thought it would be a quick visit to her office and learning about her services and perhaps a shout out on Instagram. Ha-ha, I was so wrong!

My first experience walking into their South Riding office was warm and welcoming, but I felt anxious in the sense of being in a dental office, plus I just was not sure what to expect. However, after probably about five minutes of being there I felt completely at ease and comfortable.

It’s been two weeks since I have had my aligners in and I am FINALLY feeling like “myself” with them on. I recorded a video a week ago that I am editing and will be sharing on my YouTube channel that pretty much has all the details about what I experienced in the first few days of having my aligners in!

I did Invisalign! I never had braces when I was younger because my dentist always said my teeth were straight enough. But as I got older they started to shift a little, apparently teeth never stop moving! No one else really noticed, but I did and I decided I wanted to fix them. I had the aligners for about 8 months and now I wear the retainer every night! Good luck with your Invisalign journey!

Omg, you did?! How long did you have yours in for? I am eager to get to the end, but I know I have to be patient. lol

I did it 2 summers ago and got my first trays in August and was done by April last year – so about 8 months, but I didn’t have too much to correct. Now I wear the invisalign retainers every night and since I’m coming up on a year soon I can start wearing them every other night. My teeth aren’t perfect but they’re better and I think you can only get them to be perfectly straight if you do metal braces. It was definitely annoying to take them out whenever I wanted to eat though and my lisp was so bad!

Yeah I do notice a difference. My teeth weren’t too bad but they were starting to shift and it bothered me. So for me it’s a noticeable difference and I’m happy with it.
