Life Update – Tuesday Together + Productivity, Life Inspo
Hi guys, so since it’s #flowersbyGlor week on Insta I thought I would share with you some of my recent favorite blooms from Trader Joe’s. I love their variety of blooms because you can easily mix + match to create your own personalize bouquet an their sure to last for more than two weeks! Plus, the price is unbeatable and the freshness is even more awesome! I meaaan that’s the best–they last longer so you get to enjoy longer!
Anyway, you know the saying, “no news is good news?” well, that’s pretty much been my MO to be honest. Life has been incredibly busy and although I have shot so many beautiful photos for ACB, I am yet to sit down to edit the photos to share with you.
Which brings me to my next point, which is yesterday’s Tuesday Together meeting where we talked about productivity, pricing, and blogging among other things. I have been missing from the RTS local meet ups since the styled dinner at 48 fields so I was eager to go hangout with fellow creatives to discuss the topic of productivity.
It was interesting to hear others’ thoughts on how they manage their day-to-day and what personal challenges they face when it comes to running their photography businesses while holding down a new job. I thought this topic was so appropriate for me because I have a full time which that I very much love and enjoy (all while trying to pursue my creative pursuits part time). And if you are following me on IG, you’ll know that I definitely do not plan to stop chasing my creative goals.
Like most of the people around the room I too tend to be scattered brain, I find that I cannot focus on specific tasks sometimes, and it’s not because I’m not genuinely interested in what I’m working on at the moment but because, let’s face it, I am a mom, I work full time, I have a blog, I have two pets, I have a house, a care, obligations, responsibilities, extracurricular activities, etc., and I have to make sure that I don’t drop the ball on any one of these key areas of my life. These are all key aspects of my life and I have to make sure that nothing falls through the crack. So is life overwhelming at times, yes, of course! But what’s important to remember is that we are all human and we don’t have a perfect life so we all do whatever it takes to keep the balls in the air until it’s time to let them drop. Conversely, if you happen to get so tired and so overwhelmed that you let a ball or two drop, it is okay to pick them up and keep moving forwards towards a balance that is all your own and that only you can manage.
When it comes to our creative business it is so easy to compare ourselves and our business to others; so, so easy. But my one advice would be to focus on you and your business. Celebrate your own successes irrespective of how little or small they are. Focus on you own business and personal integrity, do what works for you. Find new sources for inspiration; don’t wait for the perfect situation to come to you. And most importantly, remember the reason why you are doing this in the first place: if you love to capture beautiful little moments in a couples most wonderful and happy day then focus on that. If you love to capture the beauty of community and people gathered around the table, then that’s what you should focus on. The point is whatever it is… whatever your passion is focus on that and go for it. Go for it apolitically and believe me the less you stop worrying about what someone else’s doing and start working about what you’re doing the better off you will be. So why don’t you go ahead, write down all the things that you want to focus on and write down how you plan to get those things checked off WITHOUT being concerned with others. Do this for two weeks and you will notice a profound change in your life.
