Watering Can is an essential tool for maintaining healthy beautiful indoor plants and foliage plants, and with as many plants as I have, I knew I had to have a can that could keep up with my obsessive hobby of plant hoarding.
When I first moved into my home a year ago, I started accumulating houseplants and fast! I bought a small plastic watering can just to get me started, but I was still searching for the perfect sized can that was unique, beautiful, and could hold a few quarts of water. After searching and giving up, I knew it was only a matter of time before I found the perfect watering can for me –something not too big but could hold enough water for a few rounds of watering. I’m glad I waited because when I saw this allen + roth 0.6-Gallon black metal traditional watering can at Lowe’s, I had to snag it. The only problem was I was not in love with the black color and knew I wanted to change it.
This is what the can looked like before…
Armed with a can of Valspar Gold Metallic Fade Resistant Enamel spray paint I couldn’t wait to get spraying…
At first, I thought I’d spray paint it white, but I like shiny gold things + it would be perfect for prop styling…
I did not spray the inside of the can because the metal is already pretreated to withstand rust so I did not want to interfere with it by spraying it with paint that might possibly be harmful to my plants.
The result was outstanding, I mean this Valspar paint is the best! I could have stopped at one coat but I did two because I really wanted that deep metallic gold finish. The paint doesn’t drip at all –I mean, I was very impressed! I used the Valspar Gold Metallic Fade Resistant Enamel Spray Paint.
I still can’t believe how amazing the can turned out; I’m absolutely in love with this can. Like seriously, the picture does it no justice, you should see it in person!
What I love most about the can is its quirky handle, it’s super lightweight, which makes it easy to carry and tip for pouring. The size is perfect, holds 0.6-Gallons of water and is perfect for indoor watering. The curves of the handle and spout are exquisite and I’m more and more in love with it… I’ve already used it!
What do you think of this DIY project? What was your last DIY project? I’d love to know your thoughts in the comments and if you have ever used the Valspar spray paints, please link to your post or let me know how it turned out for you!
