This past weekend, mild winter weather, snow-capped lake (thanks to snow storm Jonas), naked trees, and frozen lake at Burke Lake Park provided the perfect ethereal backdrop for a few creatives to get together for a fun wedding styled shoot in the snow.
The shoot, organized by wedding photographer and fellow animal lover, Brittany Drosos (@brittanydrosos.photography), on our local Rising Tide Society‘s Facebook page came together on Sunday afternoon thanks to an idea, a few photographers, vendors, and creatives who pulled together resources, goodies and accessories to make the shoot happen.

A couple of weeks ago (before snow storm Jonas), Brittany had posted the idea on FB accompanied by a collage (above) of similar shoots she’d seen on Pinterest. We were all interested and excited about the idea of a winter styled shoot.
{the post that started it all}
“Hi Everyone! I’m really bored (I’m a photographer) and really want to and need to do a styled shoot (for my portfolio). Soooo, call me crazy but I was thinking about doing a shoot next week or weekend with the snow! Nothing huge, just a model, flowers, and cake.”
The post quickly gained interests by members—fellow photographers, vendors and creatives— interested in collaborating or helping out one way or another in the shoot. I remember I had responded because I was bored too and looking to create something. And I’m so glad I did!
Fast forward to a couple of weeks later to the day of the shoot. We had a few bumps in the road with location and dresses on day of, but we were excited to get together at Burke Lake Park to do the darn thing! I don’t want to speak for everyone else, but I had so much FUN! I am so incredibly inspired by how we all worked together, and how beautifully it all worked out. Personally, I think it all just goes to show that a little teamwork + collaboration goes a long way. And it definitely speaks to our group’s motto of #communityovercompetition. I’d volunteered to pick up the cake from Evan, owner of Sweets by e while others volunteered to picked up flowers, wedding dresses, and accessories. Having met everyone for the first time on location on day of, I’m happy it all came together so beautifully even with our gorgeous model losing her voice.
On location, I offered behind the scenes assistance as well as styling the cake with flowers (featured photo above). Below are some of the behind the scenes fun from the shoot!

I met Jof for the first time and I am so impressed by him – he’s so talented, you guys! I love this candid moment of him checking on floral deets! (Hi, @joffoto!, nice to meet you!)
This GOWN, you guys! Thanks EBRADA Atelier (@ebradaatelier) for providing such amazing dresses! I picked this one out with Brittany, and it turned out to be such a great choice. I absolutely love the vintage, off-shoulder style with lace sleeves. The skirt on this dress is everything! And it fit @sarakatecouture like a glove! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! // Laura making sure we get the full effect in this shot!

I am so impressed by how we all worked together to take this shoot from an idea to a professional wedding styled shoot in the snow! I just cannot wait see how all the pictures turned out, especially knowing that it was one shoot with three different photographers (three different perspectives)! I hope you like some of the BTS photos, I will definitely be sharing some of the pictures (with permission, of course), as they are finalized and released by the photographers. […] You know that feeling of dropping off your film at the print shop and you start counting down the minute until the hour you have to pick up your photos? Yup, that’s the feeling I’ve had for a few weeks now waiting for the pictures from the styled shoot to come back. A few weeks ago, I had such a pleasure of working with some amazing photographers on a winter styled shoot in the snow. I shared all the behind the scenes action with you here on the blog. {click here to read full post on #BTS action from the shoot!} […]

[…] If there is one thing I remember the most about meeting photographer, Laura Kuah, it would be her big smile. We met at a coordinated styled shoot a few weeks back and I can still remember like it was yesterday when we met on that unseasonably warm Sunday afternoon in the parking lot at Burke Lake Park as we await the arrival of others to arrive. She was warm and inviting, and was so easy to talk to it was as though we’d known each other for a long time. {It’s no surprise because you can feel her warmth in her beautifully captured images from the Winter Styled Shoot…} […]
