Hi everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I can’t believe it’s already the last week in July. I feel like we just celebrated Fourth of July weekend!
{Sorry about missing our weekend recap post yesterday. For some reason, the post didn’t publish as scheduled and I had such a busy day at work that I didn’t catch it until later. But better late than never + we’re back!}
This weekend was exciting at our house. I hosted brunch for my girlfriends (we were bummed out one of us couldn’t make it), but she was so sweet and sent us Edible Arrangement. I just thought that was so sweet of her to do even though she didn’t have to. The brunch was on Saturday so Friday evening I pulled out all my special plates, serveware, flatware, vases, tea set, champagne glasses from storage. I also did some last minute grocery shopping just to make sure that I had the freshest ingredients and got some beautiful flowers from Trader Joe’s.
Saturday morning was spent just getting the house in order, which basically means move as many toys as possible back upstairs into my daughter’s room. (As much as I try to get her to keep her toys upstairs, she manages to always bring them down and before I know it, the entire lower level is full of toys of all kinds. Sigh, kiiiddddsss…..lol
11:30am and my friends began to arrive. I always start the eggs just after the guests arrive to ensure I’m serving it as fresh as possibly from stove top to table. Brunch was amazing: we sipped on bottomless mimosas and ate scrambled eggs with bell peppers and onions, bacon and breakfast sausage, toasts, sweet almond pastries, and popovers. They hadn’t seen the house since we moved in so it was so nice to welcome them and for us to share stories about our kids, work, pets, relationships, shopping, our homes, our home project lists, home décor and they took a tour of our house. I love days like this where I am completely immersed in good conversations with great friends who are like family to me, and we share a deep emotional connection of friendship, motherhood, and love for one another. I went to bed feeling incredibly lucky, loved, and happy!
Sunday morning, (before Bikram yoga) I’d gone outside with Arianna to water the plants, flowers, and garden. I had a little surprise for her: Friday when I was watering the flowers, I noticed that a mama bird had laid a few eggs in one of the potted flower pots just outside our kitchen window. So while we were out there, I noticed the mama bird was not in there so I showed her the eggs and her eyes just light up with excitement. I just think it’s so cool that this mama bird found shelter in one of our flower pots to nest her eggs; makes my heart warm and giddy!
Our garden is coming along great, we already started getting tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers so had to make sure they got water before the temperature got excessively hot to be outside. She was such a great helper and asked to help water the plants and flowers She even picked three ripened tomatoes! Then we spent the rest of the day inside watching her favorite TV series at the moment, Peppa Pig on repeat (cute show) and just relaxed.
What did you do this weekend?
Have a wonderful week!
